Saved queries

We offer a new functionality for all interested persons to test and use saved queries.

Saved queries enable to update a table without selecting the table and values of variables in the database. Saved queries can be viewed and changed. To save and use queries, the user has to be registered (Register as new user). For traditional use of database you do not need to register and log in.

To save and use queries, you have to log in. For logging in, you need to enter your e-mail address and password. If you have forgotten your password, you can order it to your e-mail address (Forgot password?).

After you have selected the table and values for variables, and displayed the table on screen, you can save your selection for later use. Prior to that you can make one table-related operation, e.g. to pivot it. Upon saving the query, you can change the code and title of table.

It depends on tables how you can use saved queries. If it is offered, upon saving the query, to specify how the values for time variable (year) should be handled when updating the table by saved queries, you can use saved query to include next year to your table after it has appeared in the database table.

In case you are offered to select a time variable, you can choose between four variants:

Only the time period “year” is considered a time variable in this connection.

In case you are not offered to make a selection of time variable, next year will not be included in the table when using saved query, data in the previously selected table will just be updated.

Saved queries can be used for updating tables with monthly and quarterly data. It can be done by using both options. Regarding the first option, next year will be included automatically. Regarding the second option, you should create a new query for the next year. For example, after the data for January have been published in the database table, you should select all 12 months for your table, although the data for February, etc. are not published yet, and save the query. By using the saved query later on, you can automatically update your table every month after the data in the database table have been published. Can the next year be automatically added, depends on the fact, whether it was possible to select a time variable when saving your query.

You can save your query for displaying the table on screen, for downloading it in different formats or for importing data into Excel by using Excel Web Query. In the latter case, an iqy-file is set up. It is advisable to save the iqy-file, open it, and save the obtained Excel table. In table specification, you should mark Refresh data on file open (in the pop-up menu: Data Range Properties…). As MS Internet Explorer usually saves the displayed information in cache, you should refresh the screen for several times.

When logging in next time, you can find saved queries on screen for viewing and downloading. To update the table, you have to click on the code of table. To use Excel Web Query, you have to open the previously saved iqy-file or Excel table and select Refresh Data in pop-up menu.
